# 11 Good Luck!

Hello future students!!

I am so excited to tell you about my blogging experience for English 102! To start off, let me tell you that English is and probably will forever not be my forte. I am not great at it for some reason. I am not a big fan on writing essays. This class was great though! My favorite part would definitely be all the BLOGGING!

Blogging was one of the best ways to let your voice be heard! When you start your blog, give it a title that represents you! At first, I thought the title for my blog had to be “English 102” but it doesn’t have to be! Make it your own and don’t be shy. I like to talk (maybe that’s why I enjoyed it too much lol) and I never really knew much about blogging especially blogging to my classmates who I barely know but see, that’s the best part. They can get to know you and vice versa. I thought blogging had to deal with people keeping in touch with their families like a diary but it is way more than that. From my research, people blog about make up advice to fashion to funny things or recipes even. I have learned so many new things by reading other people’s blogs. Blogging as homework was super easy because it is fun and you can choose most of your topics you just have to make sure that you stay on top it and make sure to add pictures because it makes it look so much better and more interesting.

Don’t worry, there aren’t many challenges to writing a blog… The only challenge that I can think of, is not having a good topic to talk about that would interest your readers. I believe that you can make anything interesting! Take it seriously. I know I did. I would read other pro blogs to get an idea of what I wanted to sound like. So when I would blog, I try to make it pro casual with a hint of humor. Seriously, have fun with it!!!

As for the assignment for the class, I think this was very valuable. You get to challenge yourself to let your voice be heard. Like I said before, there are times when you get to choose a topic to talk about so pick anything that you can easily write about. Don’t be intimidated! The balls in your court! I hope you all have a great semester! Good luck!

Entry # 10 In-N-Out Burger

How any jobs have you had in your life? Which one was your favorite? For me, I have only had one job! In-N-Out Burger. If anyone is looking for a great job opportunity, I would like to think that it is the best company out there to work for but then again, I wouldn’t know because like I’ve said, it’s been my only job.

My older siblings worked for the company so as soon as I turned 16 I applied to the store at Desert Ridge. I got hired right away being that the store manager there was best friends with my older brother so I didn’t get an interview. I have never had an interview. Ever! Lol but I did learn how to give interviews. I started there in June 2008. I moved up all the way to 3rd manger. You move up by levels so obviously starting from level 1 up to a level 7 (which is basically an assistant to all the managers). Then after that you get moved up to a fourth manager then third then second and then you get promoted to a store manager. I never saw myself owning my own store since I was always focused on going back to school for nursing.

They pay is awesome! We start off at 10.50 as a level one and then once you move up, it’s a .25 cent raise the .50, .75 to dollar and so forth but next year we all get a .50 cent company raise which is awesome!

The incentives there are even better! Every year we have a picnic at either Wet n’ Wild or Big Surf. They shut down the place for two days just for In-N-Out associates and family. Free burgers ALL day and amazing raffle prizes. Also, every December we get a Christmas present. J Every 6 months that our store is accident free, we get a gift. There are so many great positive things this company does for us. So, if you are looking for a great job, In-N-Out Burger is the place to be!

Entry # 9 Facebook Failuuuures

Good morning, good afternoon or good evening, depending on when you are reading this!

Media. When I think of media, I think of Facebook. Boy has Facebook taken over this world super quick! As the years have gone by, I have noticed one particular thing about my friends; they are all worried about finding romance. Social media has made a huge impact on my friends. From the men to the women and I can see why through Facebook…

These types of post makes everyone want to start a relationship. It can also be that people post things like, “It’s so nice to come home to a home cooked meal and the bath tub ready” or “I love when he kisses my forehead before he heads out to work while I sleep.” It’s those types of posts that I believe affect the single people out there. They want to have that special bond that everyone seems to be having. It’s the craving of having someone take care of them. Facebook has been affecting my friends in a bad way I tell you. They are all turning into sad hopeless friends.

Now, with the people that are already in a relationship… I see arguments or I have talked to a couple of my girlfriends and their relationship is falling apart because of Facebook! Can you believe it! It’s crazy! Some of my girlfriends complain that their boyfriends don’t show them off on social media and they get upset because they want to be like the other girls that are being shown off. Another reason that relationships fall apart are the likes. The boyfriend liked a girl’s picture who happens to have bigger breast and the girlfriend gets jealous and becomes insecure because she doesn’t. Better yet, posting their relationship problems on Facebook!! This I cannot stand. This is what breaks a relationship for sure. Any problems between couples should stay within the couple and not for everyone too. #SocialMediaProbleeeeeeems

With that being said, maybe those insecure people should delete their account to better their lives. They should love themselves and respect their relationship. They shouldn’t rely on Facebook for any reason other than to keep in touch with family and friends. Social media can ruin lives! So if there is one thing that I have learned, is to keep my relationship of the internet. Am I the only one that notices this??

Entry # 8 Will there ever be peace?

Hey everyone. Today was a sad day being that there had been yet ANOTHER mass shooting in America at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, where a holiday party was taking place in a conference room. At least 14 people were killed, about 17 people wounded and 2 suspects dead. They are suspect that this might have been a terrorist attack.

This not only makes me super sad but so angry at the same time. This world is becoming crueler! I don’t and will never understand how anyone will be so evil as to do shootings at innocent schools or movie theatres where people are enjoying themselves. Mass shootings have been on the rise as the year progresses. There have been 334 days and 351 mass shootings so far this year! That is insane! My question is, “Will it ever end?” America is the home of the free and the brave so I am sure there can be an excellent plan to stop this madness.

My heart goes out to all the victims of these mass shootings who definitely did not deserve that. From the Columbine shooting to Sandy Hook children to the Paris shootings to San Bernardino. My heart goes with them! May there one day be peace on this earth! I wish you all safety, love and peace.

Entry # 7 Men, men, men...

Hey guys! It’s been awhile but I hope you are all doing well! J If you guys haven’t already taken a look at the “Dumb Men” website, I must say it is a bit humorous. The website itself seems a bit unorganized though. There are plenty of videos that has to do with men but others that are pretty irrelevant. The whole site seems a bit underdeveloped I must say. The videos aren’t categorized so if you wanted to find a particular video, you would have to keep scrolling until you find it. Good luck! Also, you must be signed into YouTube in order to watch certain videos. But overall, it is a website that is basically bashing on men and their stereotype.

For example, a laugh for all you beer drinkers, there is a video or two that has to do with Miller Lite beer. A gentleman walks up to the bar and orders a lite beer not caring for the taste. The bartender behind the bar who happens to be a woman then calls him out for not being man enough to order a Miller Lite in the first place. It so happens that the gentleman who ordered the beer is wearing a skirt or a purse which is indicating the reason why they didn’t order the Miller Lite (because they’re feminine). Ha!

The website wasn’t really my cup of tea but if the shoe fits, enjoy!

Capitalism X

So to be honest, I didn't really know much about capitalism but after watching this video, I am quite shocked. I am shocked at the fact that people actually take peoples home away and not care to leave them homeless just so that the rich can get richer. “This is capitalism—a system of giving and taking—mostly taking,” says Moore. But see, that's the one thing that I didn't understand is why? Why do they just want to take everything away from them? I think the clip that got me the most sad is when Wal-Mart took advantage of the "dead peasants" and the poor lady who became a widow and didn't get her husbands life insurance but left with her son. I think every normal human being would know that that is not okay! It makes me pretty upset. It kind of makes me wonder what other company is doing this.
I understand that teenagers who have disrespected their elders should have discipline but not to the extent where they go to juvenile detention for a year or two. In the video, they had shown a guy who had thrown something at his moms boyfriend and went to juvenile detention. Two judges were hired to send these poor kids there so that the facilities would make money and pay the judges millions. Can you believe that is where our money is going to!? Our hard working money!
"A disabled railway worker’s family in Peoria, Illinois, lose their home of 20 years. In a further humiliation, the bank hires the family to empty and clean the foreclosed property for $1,000," according to an article by Joanne Laurier and David Walsh. This makes me so sick.
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2009/10/capi-o06.html this article is a really good read to better understand Moore's capitalism video.
I don't know how but this has to stop. I feel as if many Americans aren't aware of this.. Maybe the middle class do because they are going through this but either way, we need to make everyone aware!

Entry #6 Pinterest!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a fabulous day! Today I want to talk about something super simple! PINTEREST. If you don't have the app, you need to get one like yesterday! It is honestly the best app that anyone could have ever invented.
Pinterest is pretty much your life saver. Let me simplify. If you need any make up tips or you need some ideas for a quick dinner or a trick on how to get detergent stains off of your fiancĂ©s New York Yankees jersey, you look it up on Pinterest. You can find what you are looking for and make new discoveries along the way! If you find something interesting that you want to go back to, you can post (meaning pin) to your board.
I personally am on there like every day searching for ideas for my wedding, new hairstyles and fall fashion. The best thing is that it is not only for women but for men too. It has any category such as men's style, cars or photography to name a few. The app it totally free. You just sign up and pin away! You all can thank me later! :) Happy pinnings!

Entry #5 Tick Tock!

Hi everyoooone!! So after reading this article about ASU offering more shorter classes, I can see all the pros and cons to it.
For the positives, it offers a whole lot more flexibility to working students or older adults. The students will be financially better off by taking these short classes because tuition will be lower which means that the university will be bringing in more students.
As for the negatives, some students believe that the accelerated classes won't be a fit to everyone.
I do believe that students who are young and still live at home would definitely benefit from taking these shorter classes to graduate faster. For the full time working adults, it might be a little tough because just like Sheffield Ashton said, "Condensing everything into half of that time would feel to crammed."

Although these class won't benefit everyone, it's a great option to have! It will help students in various ways but to each its own!
Thanks for reading! Until next time.. Fear the fork!

Entry #4 #ItsJustaCup

Hello there my Starbucks lovers! I hope everyone is having a fabulous week! I see through out the internet this whole controversy that "Christians" are having with this...

A red cup. I personally don't believe that a red cup is the most important thing in the world. The most important thing is to keep yourself warm this winter with a nice hot drink and not worry about a red cup. Apparently Christians are saying that Starbucks is going anti-Christmas but what they are really trying to do is welcome diversity of people and religions into their stores. Which I don't see a problem with since it is America. I don't understand why they are getting so upset when they are still decorating with a Christmas tree and a bunch of joy inside the sores. I mean, there are more important things that are going on in this crazy world like world  hunger, cancer, and racism.

Christmas is my most favorite holiday! To me, Christmas means to celebrate the life of Jesus with all my family and friends; I don't need any cup with snowflakes to make my Christmas better! I am not boycotting Starbucks but for all those that are, thank you! This just means that the lines in the mornings will be shorter which mean I can enjoy my hot chai tea latte a lot faster! :)

I hope your holidays are wonderful! Until next time!

Entry #3 Ann the Slanter

Ann Coulter. BOOM! I hope that when you hear her name, you cringe just as much as I do! Why might you ask? Well, for starters, she is a speaker at public and private events. She likes to think that she knows everything about politics... Thinks.

She is the first person that comes to mind when the words "slanted reporting" is being said. Slanting reporting is when there is a report on something and the writer is basically being biased on a particular idea. Coulter is the perfect example!! Everything that comes out of her mouth are totally bias opinions which means she is not a credible writer. Although she does have some credible resources in her books, for the most part she likes to use her bias opinions to support her claims. One can simply not trust her. I know I don't.

Now, when I research anything that interests me, I would like to be able to trust the report. If it has statistics and reliable resources then bring on all the information because I am all for it! If someone wanted to research a paper on Jew religion, Ann Coulter probably wouldn't be the best bet.. For any research, make sure you check all the citations so you  can get some reliable information.

Thanks for reading!!

Entery #2: Einstein Was Right

If there is one thing that I really enjoy in my life, it would have to be spending time with my family. I grew up with 4 brothers and 3 sisters and lived in a house with only 4 bedrooms. It was a crazy household but I loved living together and being able to have so many options in who I wanted to talk to. I believe that life is too short and that we should enjoy every single second of it with our loved ones. Which is why I have this huge cringe when I see people hanging out or a family being all together and yet every single one of them is on their phone.

Technology is taking over the world! When I was a kid, my siblings and I would be outside every day riding our bikes, playing soccer, street football, and playing with marbles, just to name a few things; that was the best childhood ever!! Now a days, I hardly ever see that in the streets anymore but what I have been noticing for a while now are a group of friends on their phone. One will be snap chatting, ones on Facebook, the other on Instagram and of course, one will be texting instead of having a conversation with one another.Don’t get me wrong, I have all of those apps on my phone but I believe that there is a time when we could all be on there. I know for me, when I am out and about with my friends or family, I leave my phone in my purse or in the car and when I have some down time and I am at home, I will get my phone out or if I am by myself.

All I am saying is that one should really think about this next time you go out. If you are waiting in a doctor’s office, don’t be afraid to start a conversation with the old man next to you, they have some awesome stories!!!

Entry #1

Hi everyone!!

So this is my first semester ever having a blog! I never really knew exactly what a blog was until now. Hence the fact that my blog is nothing interest at all. lol I feel like I wouldn't have anything interesting to say or catch the readers attention but who knows, maybe blogging will be my new thing after this semester. :)

As for other blogs, I went on to google to check some out ad actually found this website called All Women Stalk. It features about 26 other bloggers and one that I particularly enjoyed very much was by some  woman names Cat Bishop. She has many different things that she talks about! Whether you want some advice on men to how to keep your skin clean to make up tips, she is your girl!! I will definitely be coming back to this website. (I'm starting to like blogs now ;))

http://allwomenstalk.com/user/36d98ea8_1438664601_4184

Another blog that I really liked as well was from a lady named Carla. She is a much older lady that basically talks about anything! She can talk about life, living in our own terms and of course fitness! I feel like she can be very inspiring. I'm not a big fitness person but after reading some her posts, who knows maybe I will start working out more often!

The blogs that I didn't really enjoy what so ever was  the "brain picking" that we had to read for class. It was not interesting to me because I barely understood it.

Well, I shall see you guys again for the next blog!! Thanks for reading!

About Me

Hi everybody!! My name is Myrka and I was born in raised here in Phoenix. I love my city!! Regardless of the heat, I can not see myself living any where else but. I am 23 years old and going to school for nursing here at GCC. I should've gone to school right after high school but I couldn't afford it so I got caught up with work at In-N-Out Burger. I have been there for almost 8 years and I love it! I moved my way up to management and saved up as much money as I could. I recently have decided to step down from management and focus more on school to get my degree within the next 3 years. It is a super great company to work for but soon it will be time for me to move on. I am newly engaged to my wonderful fiancĂ©e. We plan to get married October of next year so it is going to be a busy year for me! On my free time, I love to visit my family. I come from a big family so it is nice to see a couple of them with my busy schedule. I also enjoy the outdoors so hiking is one of my favorite things to do especially now that it is getting cooler! I love love love Selena!! I can watch her movie so many times in a row and still be in love with it! lol then after it is over, I go on YouTube and look at videos about her. I like to wonder how her music would be if she was still alive... so sad. Anywho! ;) I can't wait get to know every one a little better!
